Residential Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer Selects Friedman for its ERP Solution

Deerfield, IL, March 31 2004 -- Friedman Corporation, an enterprise software provider to home improvement product manufacturers, announced today that Superior Millwork, a manufacturer of custom and semi-custom frameless cabinets, has selected Friedman’s Frontier solution to enhance its already superior customer service and bring its operational processes up to the same first-class level.

A leading manufacturer of residential cabinets with over 120 dealers across Canada and Northwestern United States, Superior Millwork offers a wide array of product options. However, with its current legacy system, maintaining such a high standard of service and product variety was often manual, costly, and time-consuming for this Canadian based manufacturer.

When looking to standardize their system across their operations, Superior sought a proven partner that could provide a comprehensive manufacturing solution for their enterprise need. After a careful evaluation period, Superior Millwork decided to partner with Friedman. Key to the company’s decision to implement Friedman’s Frontier was the solution’s stability, integration of all business processes, robustness of its product configurator, and the industry-specific fit. “Accurate order entry and customer responsiveness hinges on a good configurator, and we saw that in Frontier. From the inventory control standpoint, with the configurator integrated to inventory and all people working off the same data we can have confidence in the accuracy of inventory information. Additionally, with cabinet-industry specific solutions like Frontier’s interface to 20-20 Design Software, a leading computer-aided kitchen design software for the cabinet industry, we hope to extend the time-saving and cost-cutting benefits of integration to our dealers,” said Don Witzel, Systems Analyst and Project Leader of Superior Millwork.

With continuous improvement in mind, Superior will continue to find innovative ways to streamline and simplify business processes throughout the organization. “Friedman understands the cabinet making industry. With Frontier, we can take the steps necessary to centralize critical business information and make it easily accessible. The efficiencies we expect from deploying Frontier will allow our business to continue to grow, be more flexible, require much less manual intervention, and be more responsive to the demands of our customers," says Don Witzel of Superior Millwork.

“Friedman’s long-term strategy is to continue development of industry specific applications for the cabinet manufacturers. These industry specific ‘tools’ for the cabinet manufacturers are developed with the objective of reducing employee cost, reducing lead-time, increasing customer service levels, and providing growth in revenues without adding significant costs. It is our business objective to help the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer to remain focused in their area of manufacturing expertise and continue to grow strategically and profitably into the future by leveraging its partnership with Friedman,” said Craig Yamauchi, Friedman’s president and CEO.
